While they agree that a cognitive action is not performed by a single area of the brain, they underline that there are strict specific locations which correspond to the cognitive operations. The use of visual codes and the directioning of the attention processes are part of the investigation method used by the authors. Selective attention and the passive selection of information from the environment imply the activation of different brain areas.
